Published in 1990, "The Solitaire Mystery" is a Norwegian novel by Jostein Gaarder, where a boy travels across Europe with his dad. Not only each chapter of the book is named after a playing card, but some passages remind us of creations by American mentalist Max Maven, or by the genius inventor Lubor Fiedler, as well as classic effects from our domain.
